Plastic deep drawing

Plastic deep drawing, also known as pressing or vacuum shaping, is a form of thermal (heat) reshaping in which 3-dimensional shapes are created. We make use of custom-made moulds for this.

Plastic deep drawing: how it works

In the deep drawing of plastic, the sheet material is first heated in a thermal oven, making it plastic (pliable). The plastic sheet is then pulled over a mould using air pressure or other pressure. After cooling, the material takes the shape of the mould and retains this shape.

Because we make each mould to order in house, we can ensure that no mould impression is left when working with transparent plastics. This means that the material stays perfectly transparent.

The applications of deep drawing / vacuum shaping are extremely diverse, from technically functional to design objects in transparent plastics or stylish colours. Shapes that we often make are pyramids and cylinders but other shapes are possible, of course.

We use exclusively custom-made moulds for the deep drawing of plastics. In addition, this process makes use of presses and a thermal oven to heat the plastic plates.
